Hike the most famous trail in Iceland, Laugavegurinn, through spectacular volcanic landscapes. This 55km trail between Landmannalaugar and Thorsmörk leads you over multicoloured mountains and past hot springs, lava flows and glaciers. The Laugavegur trail was chosen as one of the 20 best hikes in the world by National Geographic for a good reason.
This is a 6-day (5-night) guided backpacking trip. The trek itself takes 4 days leaving time to explore the fascinating areas around Landmannalaugar and Thorsmörk, which are the start and end points of the trek. Expect to hike 5-7 hours (12-16 km) each day.
Day 1: Bus from Reykjavik to Landmannalaugar. Hike around the geothermal field of Landmannalaugar and take a dip in the hot springs.
Day 2-5: Hike the Laugavegurinn from Landmannalaugar to Thorsmörk.
Day 6: Visit the beautiful green valley of Thorsmörk. Return to Reykjavik by bus.
